After a thorough consultation with Dr Nandi, you might be deemed suitable to have a muscle relaxing treatment consisting of an injectable medication that will be prescribed for you. It can be an effective treatment for wrinkles that affect the forehead, frown area and around the eyes, giving a more refreshed look.
The medication works by temporarily relaxing the muscles in the chosen area, preventing the overlying skin from creasing.
Lines and wrinkles develop as part of the ageing process, and appear in a variety of places over the face and body, particularly in sun-exposed areas. The cause of these creases and folds usually results from the naturally weakened structure of the skin and muscles, as the body gets older and less efficient in the processes of repair and rejuvenation.
Wrinkle relaxing treatments have been used for many years and have seen much development in the positive ways in which they can be used, both medically and cosmetically. The medication itself is proven in helping to relax muscle contracture, so when used as a wrinkle treatment, these injectables reduce the appearance of lines in the skin that are attributed to facial movement.
As it is a prescription-only drug, it should only be administered by experienced injectors, such as Dr Nandi at The Bloom Clinic. Facial lines/wrinkles such as frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet that can often cause a tired, angry or sad appearance can be reduced by targeting the muscles responsible for the wrinkles with the treatment.
This can result in an appearance that is brighter and more youthful looking. Due to its success as a muscle relaxant, it can also help clients who want to slim their jawline or help with teeth grinding, excessive sweating and migraines.
The effects of the treatment can last between 3-6 months.

Am I suitable for this treatment?
As it is only a prescription-only medication, Dr Nandi will take a full and thorough look at your conditions during a thorough one-to-one consultation. Your suitability will be determined through the results of a detailed assessment that also considers the health of your skin and the results you expect to achieve. Wrinkle-relaxing treatments are not advised if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive.
Is this treatment safe?
The safety and success of this product has taken many years of research and development to become the effective treatment that it is today. It is regarded as a safe procedure if carried out by an appropriately trained professional.
Is this treatment painful?
Upon administration of the injection you may experience some very slight discomfort. The needle that is used is very fine and many clients compare the feeling to that of a scratch or slight pinch. Dr Nandi is always determined to ensure your personal comfort and uses the highest quality, extra thin needles, to administer the treatment as these are the most comfortable for clients and lead to a reduced risk of bruising.
Are there any side effects or risks?
Any associated side effects are usually confined to the area that has been treated. The client may experience some temporary swelling, bruising, redness or tenderness over the injection sites. Dr Nandi will consult you thoroughly and effectively to ensure your suitability before treatment and will fully counsel you regarding the benefits and risks as with any procedure.
What downtime should I expect?
Most clients do not experience any downtime following this treatment, and can easily continue with their day without any disruption. Some people prefer to stay away from seeing others until the redness and swelling has subsided (usually within 1 hour). Any instructions regarding aftercare will be explained to you before you leave the clinic and you will also be given written advice to refer to later.
