Dull Skin

Dull skin can occur in anyone as we age and the skin loses its natural hydration and lustre. Young skin has a remarkable ability to self-hydrate. But as the years roll by this begins to slow and the tell-tale sign of this lack of natural hydration is that the tone and texture of the skin becomes dulled and sometimes a little dry, where it was once wonderfully dewy.

Reduced skin function can also lead to a build-up of excess dead skin cells which makes our complexion appear less bright. The impact of poor lifestyle choices can also add to accelerate the ageing process of the skin through: lack of sleep, excess stress, poor diet and exercise and low levels of hydration.

We should all be mindful from our twenties, to make use of a great skin care programme which will aid hydration, keep the skin clean, clear and exfoliated as well as support the production of collagen and elastin – two proteins which are essential for maintaining our youthful complexion.

Cellular renewal slows down as the ageing progresses, leading to a build-up of dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. This can hide the natural rosy glow of a youthful complexion, which can get worse as time goes on.

Self-diagnosing the condition of the skin or being given the incorrect advice can often lead to the application of the wrong products. Attempts to rectify the concern in many cases, results in the reverse effect.

The Bloom Clinic has a variety of treatment options available to help return your dull skin to its more youthful glowing condition. This includes the use of chemical peels, facials or Dermalux LED to help relieve the skin of its dead cells and reveal a fresher, renewed surface to the skin which will give you an enhanced glow.

We also recommend using medical grade skin care products to help maintain the effects of clinic treatments as well as advocating great nutrition to stimulate the skin’s natural renewal process.
