The Bloom Clinic has chosen the SkinPen as it is the world\u2019s first and only FDA-cleared microneedling device with excellent safety features and clinically proven to show results after just one treatment, however 3-6 treatments are recommended for the best results.<\/p>\n<p>It is an effective treatment for reducing the appearance of scars (eg acne scars), wrinkles, irregular skin tone and general age-related appearances of the skin. It can be used on any part of the body including the face, neck and d\u00e9colletage. SkinPen works by comfortably creating thousands of micro-channels in the skin in a highly controlled manner. This in turn stimulates the body\u2019s natural wound healing process to regenerate and resurface the skin with new collagen. Scar tissue is not formed during the process and any existing scar tissue is remodelled and resurfaced while keeping the overall structure of the skin intact. This results in a more youthful appearance of skin which is smoother, more evenly toned and firmer looking.<\/p>\n<p>Lines and wrinkles can develop with ageing as the skin loses its natural architecture through loss of collagen and elastin leading to fine lines, wrinkles, large pores and uneven skin texture and tone. Regeneration of the injured skin occurs from new collagen fibres forming at the damaged site which improves the skin\u2019s overall structural support.<\/p>\n<p>The handheld SkinPen device can be adapted to work at different depths depending on the area of the face and condition being treated. Shallow depth (0.25mm) works on the superficial layers of the skin and can improve the appearance of fine lines, enlarged pores, uneven skin texture and minor scarring. Medium depth (1.0mm) penetrates slightly deeper to target stretch marks, as well as scarring and wrinkles. Deeper depths (1.5mm) get to work on the damaged tissues at a lower level of the skin\u2019s structure. Deeper acne scars and scars that develop through surgery or trauma can be improved, as well as more prominent wrinkles and rough skin texture.<\/p>\n<p>Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy. By causing controlled injury, the skin begins its natural response of healing and repair. The skin starts to remodel itself through the triggered production of new collagen and elastin &#8211; proteins that act as the natural scaffolding within the skin &#8211; and the structure restores its strength.
