We\u2019re working to build a future where everyone can afford the essentials. Not a simple task, but it can be done.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If we\u2019re to reach a future where no-one needs a food bank, we need to make sure everyone currently in crisis can access the best possible support while we work in the long-term to tackle the structural issues that push people to needing a food bank in the first place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Supporting 1,200 food banks across the UK to provide the best possible help to people who can\u2019t afford the essentials.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the last five years we\u2019ve seen a dramatic 74% rise in the need for food banks and last year our network gave out 1.9 million food parcels. More than a third of these went to children. Since the coronavirus pandemic, the need has surged further.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019ve seen an 89% increase in emergency food parcels, with the number going to families with children doubling.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Supporting food banks to provide support in these difficult times covers a huge variety of work. We work alongside food banks to ensure projects are run to a high standard and provide training, guidance and resources for issues projects face. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our services can provide one-to-one support on the ground through an area manager. Through effective access and support our range of unique purpose-built systems can successfully refer people to food banks, measuring how many people need their support as well as helping to coordinate enough volunteer teams to get these people the help they need. We take steps to access a grants programme on behalf of food banks, which can be used to fund a variety of different things that food banks might otherwise struggle to fund.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our organisation also provides access to a central support team who support food banks with accessing and distributing stock and advise best practices in sharing supplies across other food banks. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please visit the Trussell Trust website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trusselltrust.org\/\">www.trusselltrust.org.<\/a> Your support makes this work possible.
